Abstraction as Revelation

In the paintings of Samuel Rojas, color is neither ornament nor form: it is a spiritual language. Each canvas becomes a territory where light breathes and silence becomes visible. His abstract style is an exploration of the energy that inhabits matter, a search for balance between emptiness and presence.

Rojas works with oils and layered glazes, building depth through translucent layers that filter light. In his work, color vibrates as though emerging from the depths of time, evoking emotions that require no words.

Between Gesture and Contemplation

Samuel Rojas’ creative process is intimate, almost ritualistic. Before painting, he observes — not only his surroundings, but also the inner pulse of the moment itself. In his studio, pigments merge with natural light and with the memories carried in the air.

Each brushstroke becomes a conversation between the body and matter.

The abstraction in his paintings does not seek to escape reality, but to reveal its essence. Gesture becomes symbol, the stain becomes breath, and color becomes presence. Rojas invites the viewer into a sensory territory where contemplation transforms into experience.

The Alchemy of Color and Matter

In recent series such as The Forms of Being, his technique reaches a distinctive refinement. The layered glazes create transparencies that invite the eye to lose itself in depth. The pictorial matter seems to dissolve into light, evoking inner landscapes, suspended atmospheres, and floating memories.

His exploration of natural materials — such as cochineal dye and amate paper — introduces an ancestral dimension to his work, creating a connection to Mexican artisanal tradition reinterpreted through a contemporary lens.

An Art That Dialogues with Time

Samuel Rojas paints as one meditates: without haste, without noise, allowing the work to build itself. In that silent dialogue, time dissolves. His paintings invite the viewer to pause, look inward, and listen to the subtle vibration of color.

In this way, his art does not merely represent: it reveals. It does not simply show: it invites. It is a sensory and spiritual experience that connects matter with the soul of the viewer.
